The debut of the Acura TLX sedan was held in March 2014 at the motor show in New York. The car was presented to the Russian public at the end of August at MIAS-2014. It is noteworthy that this sedan replaced at once a couple of models - TL and TSX. On the exterior of the car worked specialists from design studios in Los Angeles and Raymonde (Ohio). The contours of the body are distinguished by soft and refined lines, smooth contours and transitions of one surface of the body to another. It is worth noting that the Acura TLX is a large car with a body length of 4,831 mm and a wheelbase of 2,775 mm, while the sedan rests on the ground with huge wheels - 265 / 35ZR20 tires on fashionable and stylish alloy wheels of the 20th radius. Ground clearance (clearance) at the Acura TLX is quite acceptable for Russian road conditions - 139 mm. Salon has a classic 5-seater layout and offers a huge open space on the front row. The basic version of Techno received a 4-cylinder inline "aspirated" with a displacement of 2.4 liters, equipped with direct fuel injection, 16-valve timing and variable valve timing. Its maximum return is 208 hp, and the upper limit of the torque is 247 Nm. The motor is aggregated with a unique 8-speed gearbox - the Japanese have prepared for the Acura TLX the world's first robotic box with two clutches and a torque converter (DCT), which guarantees unsurpassed smoothness of work and high thrust potential at the start. The top engine was a 6-cylinder petrol "aspirated" V-shaped layout, having a working volume of 3.5 liters.
In addition to direct injection and variable valve timing system, this engine is also equipped with a start / stop system and a VCM system that cuts off half of the cylinders at low loads. The power of the 3.5-liter unit is 290 hp, and the peak of its torque falls on the mark of 355 Nm. The Japanese offer a new 9-band ZF “automatic” with an electronic gear selector instead of the usual selector, as well as a manual shift function via steering-wheel petals as a gearbox for a top-end motor. The TLX fuel tank holds 65 liters of petrol. It is made of impact resistant plastic for light weight and durability. Located in a protected area in front of the rear suspension.
Standardly, the sedan is equipped only with front-wheel drive, complemented by a Precision All-Wheel Steer (P-AWS) system, steering the rear wheels to improve handling, maneuverability and stability on the road. The same system, slightly turning the rear wheels inward, allows you to optimize the sedan's braking, especially in emergency cases. As an option for the version of the car with the V6, you can order all-wheel drive with an advanced Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system with an active rear axle differential, hydraulic actuators and a retuned thrust vector control system.
As a result, the torque entering the rear axle (which is 45% on the straight line and up to 70% in the turn) can be distributed between the wheels in any ratio, up to 0: 100. The Acura TLX sedan received a bearing body of high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel, which are selectively diluted with aluminum elements (hood, front cross member, sub-frame, etc.) and magnesium (mounting engine mounts and power steering). Modern technologies and materials made it possible to provide a fairly large sedan with a curb weight in the range of 1600-1650 kg. The suspension of the Acura TLX is completely independent (with Amplitude Reactive Damper shock absorbers having pistons with two different sized valves): MacPherson in the front and multi-link in the rear. Disc brakes are used on all wheels (ventilated at the front), and the electronic parking brake has an automatic hold function, facilitating movement on slopes and in conditions of frequent stops.
