The concept of Sports Activity Coupe, first embodied in the X6 crossover, reached the middle segment. BMW X4 demonstrated to the public in the spring of 2014. The car has become a sports version of the practical X3. By the way, this compact crossover is based on the X3 platform, but differs in size from its donor. Body length added 14 mm, and the height decreased by 37 mm. The dimensions of the BMW X4 turned out the following 4671 mm in length, 1881 mm in width, 1624 mm in height, 2810 mm wheelbase and 204 mm ground clearance.

The design and interior design of the BMW X4 is almost exactly the same as the X3 saloon, but the more sporty orientation of the coupe-crossover and the understated roof dome have made some adjustments. Compared to the BMW X3, the front seats are set 20 millimeters lower. Nominally, the X4 is five-seater, but the back row is deliberately made in the shape of two chairs, so only 4 people can comfortably sit. The back of the rear seat unfolds in a ratio of 40:20:40. The boot capacity is 500 liters, which is 50 liters less than the BMW X3. With the rear seats folded, the size of the usable space can reach 1,400 liters.
Impeccable assembly, finishing with high-quality materials, rich standard equipment and an impressive list of options eloquently indicate that the X4 coupe-crossover belongs to the premium class. In the top trim BMW X4 is equipped with a media screen on the center console with built-in service information about the traffic situation in real time (RTTI), concierge service or remote control function Remote Services.
All models are equipped with a color projection display, and for an extra charge - an intelligent high-beam control system, a driving assistant with track marking, an active cruise control with Stop & Go and a pedestrian collision protection system, which can slow down the car if necessary. Specifications X4 involve the use of independent architecture of the suspension (in front of the two-lever scheme, and behind the five-lever). And one more petrol version of the xDrive28i with a 2.0-liter quadruple capacity of 245 hp (350 Nm) is able to accelerate the coupe-crossover to 100 km / h in 6.4 seconds. Top diesel engine three-liter inline six-cylinder xDrive35d power 313 hp (630 Nm) accelerates the BMW X4 to 100 km / h in 5.2 seconds. Continuing the diesel line version xDrive30d with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine producing 258 hp (560 Nm). The most modest diesel xDrive20d is equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 190 hp. (400 Nm).
All engines, except the initial diesel engine, are aggregated by an eight-band automatic Steptronic. For a 190-horsepower turbo diesel, the automaton is only available as an option, and a six-speed manual gearbox is fitted as standard. To save fuel, the BMW X4 uses a whole arsenal of auxiliary systems, in particular: Auto Start / Stop, a coasting function (in cars with an eight-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox), recovery of braking energy, and auxiliary units that are disconnected from the power supply. In addition to standard ABS and Stability in the "base" BMW X4 is equipped with control systems for braking in corners, automatic drying of brakes, a system for starting off, front, side airbags, as well as inflatable curtain airbags. Manufacture of serial BMW X4 was established at the American plant in Spartanburg, where the models X3, X5 and X6 are already being made.
