The appearance of the Enclave production model was preceded by a concept car, presented in January 2006 at the Detroit Auto Show. The serial version debuted only at the end of 2006 at the auto show in Los Angeles. The car can accommodate 7–8 passengers, has a steel 5-door carrying body with an integrated frame with a length of 5,118 mm, independent suspension of all wheels and a front-wheel-drive layout with a transversely located power unit. The wheelbase is 3020 mm. By design, the car definitely wins against its closest "relatives" - GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook. Place of production - the city of Lansing, Michigan.
Under the hood of the Buick Enclave is a 3.5-liter V6 engine with a 275-hp Variable Valve Timing system, it should be noted that this is almost the most powerful V6 that has ever been manufactured under the GM brand. The first place went past this engine due to one horsepower. All the laurels went to the GNX SFI Turbo 1987 from Buick, the official power of which was 276 horsepower. In addition, the Buick Enclave is equipped with the first in the history of the brand six-speed automatic. Up to 100 km / h the car accelerates in 9 seconds.
The front-wheel drive Enclave in the city consumes (14.5 liters per 100 km), and on the country road only (9.8 l / 100 km). Under the order, the Enclave can be equipped with an all-wheel drive transmission with the connection of the rear wheels only when the front wheels slip. In this case, the moment is redistributed along the axes depending on the speed of movement, the position of the gas pedal and the conditions of adhesion to the ground of each wheel separately. If necessary, 100 percent of the traction can be transferred to the rear wheels. The speed, throttle position, rotation of each wheel - all this happens under the control of the computer.
As standard, the customer will receive standard eighteen-inch wheels, adaptive xenon headlights, six airbags, StabiliTrak anti-tilting stabilization system, as well as Stability Control, Traction Control and ABS. Separate second-row seats, with which the Enclave can seat seven people, are standard. Without surcharge, they can be replaced with a solid seat, in which case the Buick Enclave goes into the category of 8-seater models.
Rear seat triple. When all the seats are installed, the capacity of the luggage compartment is 535 liters, and when the second and third rows are folded, it increases to 3290 liters - more than a spacious SUV like the Chevrolet Tahoe. Access to the third row of seats opens easily. This is assisted by a special second-row design, which Buicki calls the “Smart Slide” (“Smart Sled”).
On each side of the seat there is a large plastic lever that drives the middle row seat and at the same time pushes the bottom of the third row to the rear of the front seat. The Buick Enclave is soundproofed. In the interior there is a lot of plastic and inserts "under the tree." The only exception is the CXL version - it has a real mahogany that adorns the steering wheel.
The Bux Enclave in the CX version has textile upholstery, an electric drive for adjusting the front seats (6-position for the left and 2-position for the right), a load compartment door with a remote drive and a rear-view camera, which greatly simplifies parking. In turn, the CXL differs in perforated leather upholstery (8-position adjustment, heating, programmable position) and 19-inch wheels with Michelin tires. The all-wheel drive system is used on the CX and CXL as an option. As an option, you can order 20-inch chrome-plated wheels, a double sunroof, a Bose audio system with 10 speakers and a DVD player, electric steering wheel adjustment, and an engine remote start system.
For its considerable size and impressive weight (front-wheel drive car 2200 kg, all-wheel drive from 2500 kg) Enclave seems to be quite easy to drive a car with good stabilization and not too sensitive steering. The complex and expensive rear suspension with aluminum H-shaped levers allows you to successfully cope with urban irregularities without loss of comfort. Buick Enclave perfectly passed the security standard test - five “stars” for protecting the driver and passengers in a frontal collision and side impact, and four “stars” for being able to withstand a rollover.
Forbes has ranked the best 2007 SUVs. The Buick Enclave is rated No.
