Chevrolet HHR - car review

The Chevrolet HHR car (Heritage High Roof) is a compact station wagon made in retro style, which Chevrolet company (a division of the American company General Motors) is engaged in. For the first time, the HHR station wagon was introduced in 2005 at the Los Angeles Auto Show as the 2006 model year car. The Chevrolet HHR was built around the Delta platform, which is also used by cars such as the Chevrolet Cobalt, Pontiac G5 and Saturn ION.

When developing the design, the designers were inspired by the appearance of the Chevrolet cars of the mid-40s, especially the 1949 Suburban model. This is traced in the wide wings and specific grille. Bryan Nesbitt (Bryan Nesbitt), who was the designer at Crysler, supervised the creation of the exterior. Under his leadership, was created exterior car Chrysler PT Cruiser. Nesbitt was hired by General Motors as chief designer of Chevrolet. In 2007, four versions of the Chevrolet HHR were presented: LS, LT, 2LT and Special Edition.

Also offered a version of the van. At first, it was available only in the LT configuration, but today it is already offered in all versions. The car is assembled at a factory in the city of Ramos Arizpe, Mexico. The car is sold in North American markets. HHR supplies are also made in Japan specifically for Mitsui.

Version Special Edition differs solely in appearance and interior design. The interior has an exclusive trim in gray-black, leather steering wheel and firm mats. There are more differences outside. A rear spoiler, 17-inch wheels of exclusive cut, black chrome exterior trim and dark-coated headlights appear here. And the last difference is the body enamel color Cappuccino Frost Metallic, "coffee with milk." HHR in this version will release exactly 4 thousand. For the car was offered two engine options. A 2.2-liter Ecotec L61 I4 4-cylinder engine is available for LS and LT versions, and the Ecotec LE5 I4 powertrain is offered for LT and LT2.

As for the transmission, for this model there are two of them: a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed “automatic”. In October 2006, Chevrolet marketing director Cheryl Catton confirmed his intention to release a top-end version of the Chevrolet HHR. As expected, it will be released in 2008 under the name SS, and will use the new 2.0-liter Ecotec LNF turbocharged engine, whose capacity will be 260 hp.

Already since July 2006, it was often possible to meet photos of the SS test model. On August 16, 2007, Chevrolet officially unveiled the 2008 Chevrolet HHR SS Turbocharged at the Woodward Dream Cruise car festival in Birmingham.
