Back in 1995, Chrysler showed the Eagle Jazz concept car. And in January 1998, the 300M debuted at the Detroit Motor Show, in which the concept of three years ago was clearly recognized. The car is built on the Concorde chassis. It was released in Canada (Ontario) only with a sedan. The model is designed not only for American buyers, but also for picky Europeans. Chrysler 300M competes with such giants as Mercedes E-class, BMW 5-series, Audi A6 and other representatives of the business class. In accordance with European consumer standards, 300M is shorter than full-size American sedans - its length is five meters.

This model combines the advantages of American cars - space, comfort, reasonable price, and European - a forced engine, "dense" suspension and a sharp steering wheel. Under the European tastes, and customized behavior Chrysler 300M on the road. The car is very well managed, not so much roll in corners, while maintaining excellent smoothness.

Chrysler's signature feature - the Cab Forward layout (the cabin in front) gives the car a peculiar appearance and allows you to increase the passenger compartment volume: at the rear, with three legs folded, one leg will be folded. Ahead, even with the maximum raised seat above the head, there are still 70 millimeters. Along with the spaciousness, the interior is striking in luxury: leather seat upholstery as standard (for cars with a 3.5 liter engine)!

In the basic configuration: power steering, ABS, ESP, climate, cruise control, parking sensors, traction control, front and side airbags, immobilizer, central locking, electric windows, heated mirrors, front seats and trunk lid, fog lights, mirrors with automatic dimming, athermal glazing, on-board control system, stereo system with 11 speakers and 6-disc CD changer, light alloy wheels. The list of options is small - electric sunroof, chrome 17-inch wheels, improved stereo system. A modest 128 mm ground clearance can be compensated to some extent by protecting the engine compartment at an additional cost. The seat has four electric adjustments and memory for two positions.

White instrument scales (in the style of the 50s) transparently hint at 300M historical roots. From the point of view of ergonomics, everything is convenient and logical. Sufficiently stiff suspension does not allow the body to sway and provides minimal roll in corners, at the same time, it effectively quenches blows from coating defects. The steering response is accurate and moderately sharp.

Power variable load providing good feedback and information. Powerful and at the same time soft brakes with magnificent ABS complete the picture. Under the hood, the Chrysler 300M has only 6-cylinder V-engines, a volume of 2.7 and 3.5 liters, a capacity of 203 and 252 hp. respectively.

The power unit is positioned longitudinally and drives the front wheels. Excellent dynamics combined with moderate fuel consumption (10.2 liters per 100 km with a 2.7-liter engine). The power units are paired with a 4-speed AutoStick automatic transmission with manual shift options.
