Chrysler Vision - car review

The Chrysler Vision (Eagle Vision) is a full-size front-wheel-drive sports sedan that was launched by the Chrysler concern under the Eagle brand in 1993 (it was sold on the European markets under the Chrysler brand). This model has replaced the car called the Eagle Premier. Eagle Vision was similar to models such as the Dodge Intrepid, Chrysler Concorde, Chrysler LHS and Chrysler New Yorker, since they were all built on the basis of the Chrysler LH platform.

The debut of the Vision sedan was held in 1992 at the International South American Auto Show in Detroit. The design of the Chrysler Vision model was inspired by the popular, at that time, concept car from the company Lamborghini called Portofino, which was presented at the exhibition in 1987. Like all cars on the LH platform, the wheelbase of the Eagle Vision was 2 870 mm. The length of the sedan - 5 121 mm, width - 1 890 mm, and height - 1 430 mm. For the Chrysler Vision, the same engines were offered as for the first generation of the Chrysler Concorde: the EGA V6 engine with a 3.3-liter capacity of 162 hp. and the EGJ V6 power unit of 3.5 liters, whose power was 214 hp.

As for the transmission, there was used a 4-speed automatic transmission (popular at that time among Chrysler cars). It is worth noting that there were two options for a complete set of the Chrysler Vision car: the basic ESi (a 3.3-liter engine was used) and the maximum TSi (a 3.5-liter engine), which included options such as leather seats, including steering wheel trim, seat ventilation, and armrest for rear passengers, as well as additional interior lighting. In 1995, the list of options added to the electric side mirrors and windows, as well as stereo cassette tape recorder. In the same year, the 3.5-liter power unit became available as an option for the ESi version.

In 1996, a semi-automatic transmission was proposed for the TSi version. Switching was carried out by tilting the lever to the right and left, raising or lowering the transmission. During the period of production of the Chrysler Vision model from 1993 to 1997 about 105,000 cars were sold. By 1998, Chrysler was planning to redesign cars based on the LH platform. As a result, sales of the Vision model continued until September 1997, since the release of an updated version of this car was expected. However, later the concern Chrysler decided to complete the production of cars called "Vision" and "Talon", in order to get rid of the existing “Eagle” brand with these models.
