Ferrari Dino - car review

The Ferrari Dino series is a series of mid-engined rear-wheel drive sports cars that were produced by the Italian car company from 1968 to 1976. The model has its own history, which is associated with the tragic events in the family of the founder of the company Ferrari - Enzo Ferrari. Dino Ferrari (Dino Ferrari) was the son of Enzo Ferrari. He died at the age of 24 in 1956.

The father could not recover from such a loss until the end of his life. Before his death, Dino handed over his conceptual development of the V6 engine for Formula 2 racing. In a company known for its V12 engines, the name Dino (short for Alfredino - little Alfredo) became constantly associated with plans for the V6.

And the release of the small car Dino 206GT was indeed an important event for Ferrari. This is the first road car Ferrari with a central location of the engine and the first in the number of sales, and with a very tangible profit. Serial production of this car (as well as Fiat Dino with the same Ferrari engine, but located in front of the car) helped get permission to use the compact lightweight V6 engine in Formula 2 racing in the mid-60s. Its history began with the demonstration of two exhibition copies by the firm Pininfarina in 1965 and 1966, and in 1968 it was launched into production under the brand name Dino 206GT.

Even without the Ferrari brand badge, it was one of the most magnificent cars of the company. Its two-liter engine developed a power of 180 hp. at 8000 rpm, and this in a car that was small in size, light and incredibly dynamic. It is worth noting that the engine was completely made of aluminum alloys, which made it so easy. Dino 206GT sports car accelerated to 97 km / h in just 6.8 seconds, and the maximum speed of the car was 235 km / h. Dino 206GT body panels were made of aluminum.

Also, the car was equipped with independent suspension and disc brakes on both the front and rear. Later in 1969, the Dino 206 GT evolved into the 246GT model; Thus, the Dino brand became the ancestor of a long chain of wonderful Ferrari cars. The Dino 246GT sports car was already equipped with a 2.4-liter engine, whose power was already 195 hp. at 7600 rpm This model was available in two body styles: the GT coupe with a hardtop and later in 1971 the Spyder GTS with an open top. Note that the body of this model was already made of steel, which significantly increased the weight of the car. The wheelbase of the car has become 2 inches longer.

As for the maximum speed, it remained the same (235 km / h). In 1973, the Dino 308 GT4 model was launched on the market, production of which continued until April 1980. It was the first Ferrari car with a V8 engine. It should be noted that the Italian company Bertone was engaged in the design of the car, which created a new exterior concept different from the previous models 206 and 246. The Dino 308 GT4 sports car was equipped with a 2.9-liter V8 engine whose power was 250 hp. .
