The Ferrari Mondial series is a series of 2-door four-seater sports cars with a landing formula of 2 + 2 and an average engine location, which were produced by the Italian car company Ferrari from 1980 to 1993. The design of all models of the Mondial series was done by the Italian design studio Pininfarina. The Ferrari Mondial lineup began with the Mondial 8 Coupe, which was first introduced in March 1980 at the Geneva Motor Show. Unlike its double counterparts of the time, the Mondial 8 was created to satisfy a wider range of customers, with the ability to comfortably accommodate four people in a classic mid-engine coupe.

The car was well received by critics after its singing. However, due to some shortcomings, it did not become a particularly popular model. And the reason was the engine, which was equipped with a sports car. It was a 3.0-liter V8 equipped with a Bosch K-Jetronic mechanical injection system. The power of the power unit was 214 hp, but the Mondial 8 was much larger and heavier than the rest of the models of that time, and such an engine could not provide sufficient vehicle dynamics. The maximum speed of the car was 222 km / h, and it took 9 seconds for the sports car to accelerate to 100 km / h. As for the transmission, there was installed a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The release of this model continued until August 1982, when, in response to public discontent, Ferrari presented a new version of the Mondial car series called the Ferrari Mondial QV. Released in the summer of 1982, the Ferrari Mondial QV (Quattrovalvole) was equipped with a 3-liter Tipo F105 A V8 engine, which was already 240 hp. at 7000 rpm (for the American market, the power was 230 hp at 6800 rpm). As a result, the Mondial QV was able to slightly increase its maximum speed (235 km / h), but at the same time, much more importantly, it was able to reduce the acceleration time to 100 km / h by almost 2 seconds, now it took the sports car just 7 seconds.

Thanks to the work done, the dynamics of the new car has become more consistent with the classic two-seat models of those years. As for the exterior of the new version, the only difference between the Mondial QV and Mondial 8 models were the labels in the back. In September 1983, the open-top version of the Ferrari Mondial Cabriolet was introduced. The top of the car was cut off, and in its place the sports car received a soft folding awning. The mechanism of the springs and steel tubes operated manually, and securely fastened in the slots of the windshield frame.

Convertible was equipped with the same engine as the coupe Ferrari Mondial QV. Until 1985, 1,145 copies of the Ferrari Mondial QV coupe and 629 copies of the Ferrari Mondial Cabriolet were collected. In September 1985, at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the next version of the Mondial series called Ferrari Mondial 3.2 was presented and was offered in both the coupe and the convertible. The new model received a power unit V8 Tipo F105 C volume of 3.2 liters, whose power was 270 hp at 7000 rpm. The maximum speed of the sports car was 232 km / h, and it took 6.8 seconds to accelerate to 100 km / h.

The automobile press of those times warmly welcomed the improved Mondial, and rightly recognized the huge journey traveled by automobiles from its dim and imperfect family beginners. In 1987, Ferrari Mondial 3.2 cars began to be equipped with anti-lock braking system (ABS). During the production of the model Ferrari Mondial 3.2 from 1985 to 1989. 987 copies were produced in the coupe and 810 in the body of the convertible.

In March 1989, the latest model of the Mondial series was introduced, which received many changes called the Ferrari Mondial t. The car was also offered in two body styles: a coupe and a convertible. The sports car was substantially redesigned, although the appearance of the car changed slightly. Entirely redesigned car interior. But the most important is the new engine, which received the model Mondial t. It was a power unit V8 Tipo F119 DL (for the American market was installed engine V8 Tipo F119 G) with a volume of 3.4 liters, whose power was 300 hp at 7200 rpm (Tipo F119 G engine power was 195 hp). The engine was equipped with an electronic control system Bosch Motronic M2.5.

It was the fastest model of all Mondial. Production of the Ferrari Mondial t lasted until 1993.
