The history of the Sedici began in 2003, when Fiat and Suzuki signed a formal agreement to jointly develop a compact urban crossover. The name for the car with 4x4 drive picked up a symbolic, for Sedici in Italian means "sixteen". Fiat Sedici is the twin brother of the Suzuki SX4 with which he, by the way, shared the platform. The differences between these two models are mainly reduced to the exterior.
The debut of the model took place at the Geneva Motor Show in 2006. The car is designed for five riders, but it turned out to be quite compact - it takes 4.11 meters long, 1.76 meters wide and 1.62 meters high. Wheelbase - 2.50 meters.
The inimitable look is the work of the famous ItalDesign studio. The wedge-shaped three- or five-door body with a broken window-sill line and expressive rear pillars looks wounded to a degree of vigor and thoroughness, which is favored by the developed front fenders and wheel arch extensions. Giugiaro awarded the car with an elegant figure with a plastic body kit around the perimeter.
The massive fangs on the front bumper are reminiscent of the Fiat Croma model. The tone in the exterior of Sedici is set by headlights that look like boomerangs. Complement the picture with stylish 16-inch rims with tires of 205/60 dimension. Sedici can be painted in one of eight different colors, including metallic. The size of the luggage compartment of the car is only 270 liters, but with the rear seats folded, this volume increases to 670 liters. Comfortable lounge Sedici c monolabel layout features high functionality and high quality materials.
The basic equipment of Sedici includes ABS and EBD systems, front and side airbags, electric power steering, air conditioning or climate control, power accessories, the Free Hands access system, a CD audio system, off-road body kit and roof rails. As options are offered leather upholstery, navigation system and inflatable curtain airbags. Suzuki completed the main work on the design of the car, having developed the entire body architecture on the platform of its Swift model, all-wheel drive transmission and providing a 1.6-liter petrol engine with 107 hp. with variable valve timing system VVT, as well as a five-speed manual gearbox.
With this power unit, the Italian “SUV” accelerates to 170 km / h, while spending an average of 7.1 liters per 100 kilometers. The other engine is the second generation 1.9-liter multijet turbodiesel with 120 hp. and the six-speed "mechanics" for him are of Italian origin. In the design of the Multijet engine, multi-phase high-pressure common rail injection technology, patented by Fiat, is used to ensure high-performance and reliable operation at low fuel consumption. The maximum speed of this power unit is 180 km / h.
It is equipped with a particulate filter, which ensures compliance with Euro-4 environmental standards. Transmission can operate in one of three modes. Mode "2WD" means the transfer of all the moment to the front axle, "Auto" provides for automatic distribution of moments between the axles, depending on road conditions. Finally, in the “Lock” mode, the multi-plate multi-plate clutch is locked, providing a symmetrical four-wheel drive.
In addition, the ground clearance is 190 mm, and all this makes the Sedici quite ambitious all-terrain vehicle.
