The well-known EX model has lost its place in the Infiniti lineup to the QX50 crossover. There were no global changes with the name change. Externally, the QX50 crossover is practically no different from its “predecessor”, offering familiar dynamic and easily recognizable body contours, flavored with modern xenon optics with adaptive lighting function, 18-inch alloy wheels with n- profile tires and other details typical of a luxury car. The overall dimensions of the crossover after the name change remained the same. At length, the body of the Infiniti QX50 reaches 4635 mm, the width of the car is kept at 1800 mm, and the height remains at 1600 mm.
All this with a wheelbase length of 2800 mm. The Russian version of the model received a ground clearance of 147 mm. The track widths of the front and rear wheels are respectively 1540 and 1545 mm. The curb weight of the car in the basic configuration is 1842 kg, and in the top-end performance it reaches the mark of 1870 kg.
The interior decoration as a whole also came without significant transformations. In any case, it is difficult to discern the made improvements immediately. Of the innovations I want to note the heating and pumping seats at the discretion of the driver and passengers. The previous model had such a problem: the front seats were loosening strongly, so in this updated version of the Infiniti QX50, the developers carefully worked on it and fixed the problems. Now the new seats have a sports tack. The dashboard is thought out to the smallest detail; it is this part of the car that has always been famous for its careful alignment.
Elegance is added to the salon with materials such as noble maple, aluminum, black lacquer, which is used to trim the panel, and very expensive leather. All this luxury set creates the perfect harmony between nature and mechanical perfection in the cabin. As before, the capacity of the luggage compartment of the crossover is 309 liters. Not very much for a model of this class, but if necessary, the volume can be increased by folding the back row seats. In addition, it will have to be done not manually, just press the corresponding button and the electric drive will turn on.
In the domestic market, the Infiniti QX50 crossover is available with two V-shaped petrol power units to choose from. Both engines received 6 cylinders, 24 DOHC valves and a pair of automatic 7-range gearbox. They fully comply with the requirements of Euro-5 environmental standards. The basic engine selected unit with a displacement of 2.5 liters (2496 cm ³), capable of developing a maximum power of 163 kW or 222 hp at 6400 rev / min. Maximum torque of 252 Nm is available already at 4800 rpm. A car with such a motor accelerates to 100 km / h in just 9.4 seconds.
The maximum speed is declared at the level of 210 km / h. In the combined cycle, fuel consumption is about 10.6 liters per 100 kilometers. In this case, in urban traffic conditions, about 14.3 liters are consumed, and about 8.4 liters of gasoline is consumed on the highway. The flagship engine is a 3.7-liter unit, which develops an impressive 330 horsepower (243 kW) of power at 7000 rpm and 361 Nm of maximum torque at 5200 rpm.
Such a charged motor accelerates the car to the cherished hundred kilometers in just 6.4 seconds, and the speedometer needle shows the maximum 240 km / h. Fuel consumption for this unit in the urban cycle leaves 15.7 liters, with access to the track a little less than 10 liters per hundred, but with a mixed type of ride there will be about 12.1 liters of gasoline. In Russia, the Infiniti QX50 is available in two trim levels: Elite and Hi-Tech.
In the basic version of the Elite, the crossover is equipped with a rear-view camera, parking sensors, rain and light sensors, fog lights, electric and heated exterior mirrors, an intuitive lighting system, full power accessories, electric sunroof, dual-zone climate control, heated first-row seats, leather interior , Hi-Fi 08IT Bose 2.0 audio system with 10 speakers, cruise control and spare wheel drive. In the top configuration “Hi-Tech”, to everything else, there is also added active cruise control, a navigation system in Russian and four all-round cameras (AVM system). This combination of cameras gives a three-dimensional image when parking.
In the cabin of this option there are inserts of maple. The chassis of the compact Infiniti QX50 crossover is based on the Nissan FM platform, which provides for the use of an independent multi-link suspension design both on the front and on the rear axle of the car. Also note that the crossover is equipped with ventilated disc brakes on all four wheels, as well as a modern power steering.
