Quoris is the first Kia executive class car. The name of this flagship sedan reflects two English words: core (“core”) and quality (“quality”), which emphasize the fundamental characteristics of the car. Quoris means reliability, luxury and high technology, harmoniously combined into one. This is the first in the history of the brand rear wheel drive car and it is built on the platform of the Hyundai Equus. Russian car enthusiasts met the Kia Quoris at the 2012 Moscow Motor Show. The overall dimensions of this sedan are: 5090 mm in length, 1900 mm in width, 1490 mm in height, 3045 mm wheelbase, ground clearance 145 mm-175 mm (ground clearance increases due to air suspension).
The appearance of Quoris, despite its huge size, turned out to be harmonious, stylish, expressive and at the same time recognizable. This is the merit of "star" designer Peter Schreier, who has worked at Kia since 2006. He became famous back in the 90s when, working at Audi, he surprised the world with a TT model.
The front part of Quoris is decorated with a false radiator grille in the shape of a bow and large LED headlamps for Kia cars. A neat bumper emphasizes the smoothness of the front lines of the body. Rearview mirrors have received the original form of turn signal indicators (LEDs).
Side view form moderately inflated wheel arches with tires 245/50 R18 located on them on beautiful light alloy wheels 18 of radius, huge doorways (all doors are equipped with electric closers) and a drop-down roofline. The feed is powerful and compact at the same time. The rear part received a major lighting engineering, of course, with LED fillings, as well as a powerful bumper with tailpipe nozzles integrated into it.
The drag coefficient of Quoris is only 0.27. The car is available in eight body colors: Snow White Pearl (white), Bright Silver (bright gray), Mineral Silver (gray), Platinium Graphite (dark gray), Formal Deep Blue (blue), Titanium Brown (brown), Aurora Black Pearl (black). Salon is made at the highest level. This applies to everything from finishing materials, detailing, ergonomics and ending with a rich content of comfort functions, electronic assistants and security systems.
Great noise insulation, thanks to the good work of the air suspension. For the sake of comfort, the Koreans tried as best they could: the body cavities are filled with a special sound-absorbing foam, the glass is multi-layered. Executive car is primarily focused on second-row passengers. Therefore, a comfortable rear sofa has an electric drive, heating and ventilation of the seats, even the head restraints and a rear electric curtain. The passenger sitting on the right has the opportunity to push the seat of the first row forward from the console in the rear armrest and bend it almost to the level of the glove box. Thus, for the VIP-person opens the maximum overview ahead.
Two passengers sitting in the back will be able to independently control the climate control and customize the Lexicon advanced audio system with 17 speakers, which is already included in the basic equipment. In the top version of Quoris, the rear passengers have the opportunity to watch movies on two 9.2-inch color monitors, which are built into the backs of the front seats. The driver's seat is no less comfortable than the rear seats. The electric drive provides adjustment in 12 directions, the multifunctional steering wheel is also equipped with an electric motor. The Super Vision virtual dashboard with a 12.3-inch monitor is capable of displaying a huge amount of information.
There is a projection screen to display a picture of the necessary readings on the windshield in front of the driver's eyes. At the top of the console is a 9.2-inch touch screen to control the four-zone climate control, media system and other vehicle settings. Kia Quoris is equipped with the most advanced active security systems. The sedan can maintain the desired speed thanks to the intelligent cruise control, maintain a pre-set safe distance to the vehicle in front, and even stop if necessary. The Quoris also has four cameras that provide all-round visibility, and the Blind Detection Spot system - monitoring blind spots on both sides of the car.
The presence of such usual things as keyless access, starting the engine from a button, heated steering wheel, electric drive, heating and folding side mirrors, light and rain sensors, parking sensors, smart electric handbrake, leather trim, nine airbags - taken for granted. Under the hood, the familiar Hyundai Equus gasoline 6-cylinder V-engine with a displacement of 3.8 liters and a capacity of 290 hp. The motor is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. According to the manufacturer, acceleration to the "hundred" takes 7.3 seconds. The maximum speed is 240 km / h. Average fuel consumption is 10 liters.
The creators of the car say that the weight distribution of the body is close to ideal - 52: 48% in favor of the front axle. In conclusion, we specify the amount of luggage - 455 liters, the lid with electric. At the end of 2014, the model was restyled. In the course of the work done, minor defects were eliminated, the appearance was slightly improved. The release of the updated version suggests that the Kia company wants their flagship sedan to always correspond to its time and to compete on equal terms with well-known representative sedans. The updated Kia Quoris has become more modern and comfortable, the high quality of performance remains the same.
Appearance during the update slightly corrected: the restyled version boasts a new false radiator grille with horizontal slats (in the previous version, the elements had a vertical arrangement). Changed the design of daytime running lights, as well as the location of the "turn signals". Relative to the original version, the restyled car has LED modules for dipped and main beam, which have received elegant, slightly rounded shapes. Thanks to the redesigned head optics, the sedan began to be perceived as a more solid car. You can also note the new form of the front bumper and other design "gills" air intakes located in the front wings of the car. The interior also has not changed much.
All parts, layout and location of the control buttons are in their old place. The instrument panel, as in the previous version, consists of a speedometer and a tachometer, and in between the on-board computer screen. The center console has a large screen multimedia system, on the sides of which there are two vertical duct.
Slightly below is the main panel with control buttons, which can be seen even in the selector area or on the door panels, including on the multifunctional steering wheel, where the location of the buttons resembles some joystick control console. The front panel was dominated by a 9.2-inch touchscreen display with high-quality graphics and a peculiar interface. Space for front and rear passengers with enough stock. The luggage compartment has become to accommodate a smaller volume than the previous version, and is 450 liters. The interior is characterized by rich materials, impressive equipment and high build quality.
A distinctive feature of the restyled model has become an extensive list of modern electronic systems designed to facilitate the work of the driver. The basic version of the restyled Kia Quoris includes ABS, a stabilization system, a rear-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive xenon headlights, three-zone climate control, a 16-speaker Lexicon audio system. The top version of the car received control systems of blind zones, circular view and warning of frontal collisions, adaptive cruise control, a panoramic roof and a projection display convenient for use.
Under the hood of the updated sedan is a modernized 3.8-liter V6 engine, which is capable of producing 334 horsepower (previously, this figure was 290 hp), and the torque is now 404 Nm (instead of the old 359 Nm). This engine is equipped with only one version of the transmission: in a couple of it offers an eight-speed automatic transmission. Now, the Kia Quoris can accelerate to 100 km / h in just 6.8 seconds, which is 0.5 seconds faster than before.
At the same time, fuel consumption has not changed: in measurements on a combined cycle, the updated Quoris still consumes 10.3 liters of fuel per 100 km of run. Specialists of the company have also worked properly on the soundproofing of the car, both in relation to its cabin and the engine compartment. Even with fast driving inside the car, you can successfully talk in a half-whisper.
