The first generation Kia Sephia appeared in 1993. Korean car was created on the basis of the Mazda 323, which was produced in 1989-1994. It has a similar cylinder block with it, and in many respects resembles a “Japanese”. Kia Sephia is an attractive solid five-seater car. At first it was available only with a sedan and an engine capacity of 1.6 liters (80 hp). Cars of the first generation are characterized by a simple design, good build quality and an average level of corrosion protection. Salon can be described as practical.
It is rather elegantly designed, functional, and in terms of its size it is fully consistent with the norms of the late 80s and early 90s. The Kia Sephia sedan also has a roomy, comfortable and convertible luggage compartment. In 1996, the model was upgraded; at the same time, the second version of the body - the five-door hatchback. In some countries, the hatchback is called Leo. The old engine was replaced by 1.5 liters, also 80 hp. A year later, a 1.8-liter engine (112 hp) appeared, but here it is already appropriate to talk about a second-generation car, which replaced the “old” Sephia at about the same time. After the upgrade, the airbags and the ABS system appeared.
Austere interior compensates for excellent ergonomics of the driver's seat. The range of longitudinal adjustment of the front seats is amazing. Behind the wheel can comfortably accommodate a person with a height of 2 meters, while at the back there will be enough space to sit down to an adult person of normal build. The steering column is adjustable in height, and the seat also in height of the cushion. In combination with well-thought-out ergonomics, the interior seems very comfortable. In 2001, another modernization of Sephia took place.
The car of this generation has a dual name Kia Sephia II / Shuma II, because at one time the modification of the Sephia with a hatchback body was called Shuma. Kia Sephia II with a 1.6 m3 engine capacity of 101 hp develops speed up to 186 km / h. Basic equipment offers: audio package, adjustable steering wheel, power steering, central locking, air conditioning, power windows. In conclusion, it should be added that Kia Sephia is a typical urban dweller, almost imperceptible in the stream, but regularly passing kilometers. In 2003, the new Spectra finally changed the Sephia model on the conveyor, but in some countries the car retained its former name, but with the prefix Sephia III.
Sephia third generation has the same dimensions as previous versions. Changes have undergone grille, head optics and taillights. In the guise of the updated Sephia, an important place was taken by deep punching on the sidewalls of the body and the sloping roofline.
The interior of Sephia III has undergone an irrelevant, but still transfiguration. In its design a modern style is noticeable, which, nevertheless, can be called quite standard for cars of this segment. There are several engines for Sephia III. The most powerful in the line is a 2-liter gasoline unit with a power of 140 hp.
In the second place is a 114-horsepower gasoline engine with a displacement of 1.8 liters, followed by a 113-horsepower 2-liter turbo diesel engine with Common Rail fuel injection system.
