In 1998, a coupe under the name 3200 GT appears in the Maserati product line. As a result of the restyling of 2001, the Maserati 3200 GT received a new name - the Maserati Coupe and the aspirated Ferrari V8 engine with a displacement of 4.2 l / 390 hp. instead of the old biturbomotor V8 3.2. The crankcase and cylinder heads were made from an alloy of aluminum and silicon. With the motor is mounted a 6-speed gearbox, which is controlled by the keys on the steering wheel. The Coupe accelerated to 100 km / h in 4.9 seconds, and the maximum speed was 280 km / h.
The design was developed by Italdesign-Guigiaro and represents a series of innovations - from the outstanding forward bonnet in muscular style, to the rear end with a new concept for the design of rear lights in the style of "clean lenses". In the fall of 2003, the upgraded Coupe model was introduced. It should be noted right away that all the changes were mostly cosmetic. Exterior has been changed only in the details. The grille received horizontal slots, in the style of the flagship Maserati Quattroporte. The rear bumper of the updated cars has larger slots, "tightened" black metal mesh. Changes have occurred in the cabin - there is a new trim seats, front panel and door skins.
Changed the instrument cluster, refreshed the center console, significantly expanded the basic equipment. Inside, literally all the panels are covered with leather. The center console is located screen multimedia system, which displays information on-board computer and air conditioning. In the center of the instrument cluster is a large display, on which the bright green number indicates the selected gear of the Cambiocorsa robotic box. There are four more auxiliary indicators: fuel level, voltage in the on-board network, oil pressure in the box, coolant temperature. The transaxle type Coupe platform is in many ways similar to the Ferrari 575M Maranello.
Such an arrangement allows achieving almost perfect weight distribution - 52:48, but is sensitive to the rear axle load, therefore the capacity of the Maserati Coupe is limited to 2 + 2. Under the hood, a 4.2-liter V8 32V (390 hp, 451 Nm) with a variable valve timing mechanism - but only at the inlet. There are two versions of the Coupe: Cambiocorsa with a robotic 6-speed gearbox with shift paddles and two-tone interior design and a GT with a single-color interior and an improved mechanical 6-speed gearbox. At the Geneva Motor Show 2007 debuted supercar GranTurismo Coupe. The car is built on a shortened platform of the updated Quattroporte sedan. Planting formula "2 + 2".
Design - the fruit of the work of the masters of the studio Pininfarina. The exterior is distinguished by exquisite forms, expressive body line and impudent sporty “mentality”. Distinctly radiating from the front of the body grille with the famous trident, aggressively narrowed headlights with integrated turn indicators - this is new for the Maserati.
Like the previous model, the GranTurismo also offers a classic coupe shape with long doors and small side windows behind the middle racks. Some design elements (air intake and “gills” on the front wings) were borrowed from the Quattroporte sedan. Vigorously exposed wheel wells and dual exhaust pipes on the left and right support the aggressive image of a powerful coupe. A distinctive feature of the car will be almost ideal weight distribution: 49% of the mass load the front axle, and 51 - the rear.
Coupe is equipped with a 4.2-liter V8 engine with 405 hp. Peak torque reaches 465 Nm at 4750 rpm. The engine is aggregated with an automatic six-speed ZF gearbox, which transmits torque to the rear wheels - this is so far the only proposed transmission option.
If desired, the transfer can switch and the driver - with the help of a pair of paddle shifters. The car accelerates to 100 km / h in 5.2 seconds. The maximum speed of 285 km / h.
