The debut of the car took place simultaneously at two exhibitions - in Tokyo and Los Angeles, both of which opened the doors for visitors on November 20, 2013. The manufacturer has high hopes for Macan and plans that this compact crossover will continue the success story of the famous Cayenne, but in a more compact and convenient form for maneuvering in a tight city. The original working name of the car was Cajun (Cayenne Junior), but in February 2012 the company announced a new name - Macan, which means tiger in Indonesian.
The car is built on the same platform with the Audi Q5. With a length of 4681 mm, a width of 1923 mm and a height of 1624 mm, it is 165 mm shorter, 16 mm narrower and 82 mm lower than the flagship Porsche coupe. The difference in the wheelbase reaches 88 mm (2807 and 2895 mm, respectively). Stylistic similarity with the Porsche Cayenne certainly determines the appearance of the car. Aggressive front with family features, elongated muscular "body", kupeoboobrazny silhouette.
A dynamic profile is provided by a low roof, a sloping rear window and a more elegant rear optics design. In addition to the original headlights in the front of the car is dominated by large air intakes, which emphasizes the sporty character and hints at a powerful engine under the hood. The motor range of the car at the start of sales consists of three efficient engines, each of which boasts an excellent combination of power and fuel consumption. Two petrol bi-turbo engine volume of 3.0 liters and 3.6 liters, respectively, 340 and 400 hp The latter strikes with dynamics: the acceleration time to 100 km / h is 4.8 seconds, and the maximum speed is 266 km / h.
The 3.0 liter diesel engine develops 258 hp. Accelerates to 100 km / h in 6.3 seconds. The maximum speed of 230 km / h. When choosing the Sport Chrono package, the acceleration time from 0 to 100 km / h is reduced by 0.2 seconds. Porsche Macan c 3.0 l petrol and 3.0 diesel engines received the name Macan S, and with a 3.6 liter engine, the Macan Turbo. There is only one gearbox so far - this is a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch semi-automatic transmission. For Macan, three variants of the chassis were developed at once.
Macan S and Macan S Diesel are standardly equipped with a conventional spring suspension, and Macan Turbo comes with adaptive shock absorbers in the base. As an option, an air suspension with variable ground clearance from 180 millimeters is offered for confident high-speed movement along a smooth highway, up to 230 millimeters capable of withstanding serious off-road. Macan's all-wheel drive transmission is not based on a center differential, like the Audi Q5, but using an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch in the front axle drive. That is, the torque is automatically supplied to the rear axle, and the front one gets its share of the moment at the command of the electronics.
The Porsche's rear axle differential is equipped with an electronically controlled lock to improve vehicle stability when accelerating on slippery roads, and the Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus system corneringly distributes torque between the right and left wheels using brakes. Salon Macan is made in a corporate style. Inclined center console with slender rows of buttons flowing into a high tunnel, and, of course, branded dashboard. There are three “wells” in the dashboard combination: in the center, as usual, there is a tachometer, to the left of it is a speedometer, and to the right is a 4.8-inch multifunctional color display. The back of the back sofa folds in a ratio of 40:20:40.
The volume of the luggage compartment is 500-1500 liters. Macan comes standard with front and side airbags (plus curtains), braking and directional assistance systems, 18-inch wheels, bi-xenon headlights, LED running lights, rain and light sensors, climate control, and an electric driver's seat. Among the options, we note LED lights, a panoramic roof, an “advanced” audio system with 16 speakers and a subwoofer, a multimedia complex with navigation and a set of security systems (tracking dead zones, the limits of the occupied lane and road signs).
Porsche Macan is produced at a factory in Leipzig. This car has every chance of success.
