Model SEAT Arosa is a small city car, which was first introduced by the Spanish car company SEAT (a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group) in 1997. The car was named after the Spanish municipality "Vilagarcia de Arousa". Until 1998, this model was produced at the Volkswagen plant in the German city of Wolfsburg.
In May 1998, all production was transferred to the SEAT plant in Martorell, Spain. The car was built on the basis of the A00 platform of the Volkswagen Group. A shortened version of this platform - the A03 was used in models such as the Volkswagen Polo and SEAT Ibiza.
The SEAT Arosa was produced in a 3-door hatchback body. The wheelbase of the Arosa was 2,323 mm, the length of the car was 3,551 mm, the width was 1,639 mm, and the height was 1,460 mm. For the car SEAT Arosa manufacturer offered as many as five engine options, among which were both gasoline and diesel powertrains. The proposed petrol engines include: four-cylinder 8-valve OHC engines with 1.0 and 1.4 liter capacity of 50 hp. and 60 hp, as well as a four-cylinder 16-valve DOHC power unit with a volume of 1.4 liters, which power was 100 hp. The list of diesel engines includes: a four-cylinder 8-valve power unit SDI with a volume of 1.7 liters and 60 hp .
and a three-cylinder 6-valve turbocharged 1.4-liter TDI engine with a power of 75 hp. A 5-speed manual transmission was offered as standard for all engines, however, as an option, cars in the configuration with an 8-valve petrol engine with 60 hp could be equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Acceleration from zero to 100 km / h in SEAT Arosa takes almost 18 seconds. The front suspension of the SEAT Arosa model was independent and included spring struts, triangular wishbones, and an anti-roll bar.
The rear suspension, in turn, was semi-dependent and consisted of longitudinal interlocking levers, coil springs, and telescopic shock absorbers. The front brakes were disc, and the rear - drum type. In 2001, the exterior of the SEAT Arosa was updated. The changes mainly affected the front of the car: there were new headlights (with separate lights for low and high beam), a new form of grille and bonnet.
The car's interior received a new dashboard, which was similar to the one used in the Volkswagen Polo model.
